About Me
Fiona Scott
Horses have been a part of my family for generations, and I grew up surrounded by them. From an early age, I was immersed in the world of riding, care, and horsemanship, building on the knowledge passed down through my family. With my journey beginning in pony club and a lifetime in the saddle, I have developed an intuitive understanding of horses, their needs, and the unique bond they share with humans.

With 45 years of experience in horse riding, I have developed skills across multiple disciplines, including horse trekking, riding technique, natural horsemanship, healing practice, showing, jumping, and cavalcades. I have continued the bloodline of my father’s stud, Barra Fields, from which my own Barra Haven originates. My arena provides a dedicated space for riding lessons, catering to beginners and returning riders alike, while my treks take riders up and around Danseys Pass, following the mighty Maerewhenua River.

At the core of my philosophy is natural horsemanship, an approach that emphasizes trust, communication, and mutual respect. Horses have an incredible way of helping people feel grounded and connected, offering a unique sense of freedom and presence. Whether it’s building confidence, developing skills, or simply enjoying the experience of riding through nature, my goal is to create an environment where both horse and rider can learn, grow, and find joy in their time together.
